You'll find the following files after a successful run of CHECK.EXE:

Downloaded files from the MPC
  • unusual.txt: Elements for unusual objects.
  • distant.txt: Elements for distant objects.
  • nea.txt: Elements for near-Earth objects.
  • cometels.txt: Elements for observable comets.
Calculated file
  • previousneo.index.txt: Cross IDs for NEOCPs with provisional designations and numbered objects (not complete).
For each measured object of this example 80-chars file
  • 02346.allobs: (all observations) All known observations for this object, including your own measured observations.
  • 02346.redobs: (reduced observations) If find_orbit fails, the number of observations will be reduced at begin.
  • 02346.minobs: (minimum number of observations) If find_orbit fails again, the number of observations will be reduced more.
  • 02346.mpcobs: (MPC observations) MPC observations only, not the measured own observations.
  • 02346.mpcpage: (MPC page) Downloaded copy of the MPC page for this object.
  • 02346.ownobs: (Own observations) Only own measured observations of this object.
  • 02346.selobs: (Selected observation) You can load this file in find_orbit to analyze them.
Summary files
  • objects.select All objects with the selected observations. You may load this file into find_orbit to play with the objects and their residuals.
  • objects.complete All objects with all observations. You may load this file into find_orbit to play with the objects and their residuals. But there are mostly too many observations and find_orbit can't use them all.
  • bad.objects Objects, which have bad residuals and will be included into the file for sending to the MPC.
  • check-report.bad.txt All observations of the bad objects (including MPC observations), useful to load it into find_orbit, to check, what the problems are.
  • check-report.good.txt All observations of the good objects (only own observations).
  • check-report.new.txt All observations of the new objects (only own observations). CHECK.EXE find already sent observations for objects and excludes them in this file.
  • check-report.txt This file is ready to send to the MPC. It's based on all observations of check-report.good.txt.
  • check-report.sent.objects A list of objects with already sent observations (mostly empty).
  • checklist.pos Observations, separated by blank lines after each object. It's based on all observations of check-report.good.txt.
  • check.motion Trail length in arc seconds for all measured objects.
  • check.log Output of CHECK.EXE and the find_orbit calls.

There are more files, which have not-so-interesting information, mostly for internal program use.
